We bale hay and straw. Small bales are sometimes known as conventional bales.

Over the last thirty years farms have grown much larger and the bales on this farms are now either round or big square bales, however the demand for small (conventional) bales still remains .

This is because they can be manually handled and can be stored anywhere and you do not need expensive machinery to move them about.

We have spoken to some stable owners and they have said given the choice they still prefer small bales they are still popular with sheep farmers and are great for loading on the back of quad bikes.
